What is Naturopathic Medicine?
Naturopathic medicine promotes the body’s self-healing by using therapies such as clinical nutrition, botanical medicine, Chinese medicine (acupuncture, food therapy, herbs), lifestyle counselling, and much more.
The goal of naturopathic medicine is to address the root cause of health concerns and guide lifestyle habits that may contribute to the problem.
Unlike conventional Western medicine, where pharmaceutical drug use and surgery are encouraged, naturopathic medicine blends a philosophical approach with therapeutic methods to address your health concerns.
What is a Naturopathic Doctor?
Naturopathic Doctors (ND) are primary healthcare providers who integrate standard medical diagnostics with a broad range of natural therapies.
Working with Naturopathic Doctors Man-Yee Yeung and Tonia Winchester at Knead is like having your own researcher, scientist, and doctor dedicated to you! As a primary healthcare provider trained in diagnosis just like a “regular” medical doctor, she offers something excitingly different.
What training do Naturopathic Doctors have?
ND’s require three to four years of pre-medical, post-secondary education and four years of full-time study at an approved school of naturopathic medicine.
Naturopathic Doctors must also successfully complete standard national exams in order to qualify for licensing in regulated provinces such as British Columbia.
Who do Naturopathic Doctors work with?
Naturopathic Doctors care for people of all ages and conditions using natural, safe, and effective therapies. NDs offer patients the highest quality health care to treat disease, prevent illness, and improve health.
In other words, naturopathic medicine can benefit everyone!
What concerns can be addressed by Naturopathic Medicine?

The Healing Power of Nature
Vis medicatrix naturae – Naturopathic doctors recognize the body’s inherent ability to heal itself.
Identify & Treat the Causes
Tolle causam – Naturopathic doctors identify, address and remove the underlying causes of disease.
Doctor as Teacher
Docere – Educating and supporting patients on personal health management.
